Low Book Sales Employees Really Care About the Community

Low Book Sales® Executive INSPIRES EMPLOYEES TO SUB FOR SANTA
03/04/2008
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Automotive :: Charitable Causes
Lindon, Utah, March, 2008 – Employees of Low Book Sales®, the largest independent car dealer in Utah, learned the joy of giving this holiday season. A family of six enjoyed a very merry Christmas thanks to the efforts of a few loving employees, and donations from many more.
It all began when Stephanie Sorrells, Office Manager of Low Book Sales Lindon was trying to decide what to get the CEO for Christmas. Based on his previous charitable contributions, she decided to donate as a Sub For Santa in his name.
This idea took flight, and soon Stephanie had collected thousands of dollars from her colleagues. She then contacted the local chapter of Sub For Santa in Utah County, who matched her up with the perfect family. Ruiz and Mirna Salvador had given birth to quadruplets only three years prior, and were having difficulty making Christmas happen.
But happen it did, and in a very big way. Stephanie went out shopping for the family, and was able to produce: four to five outfits per child, new bicycles, and dozens of miscellaneous toys. Mom and dad were not left out, and received new coats, robes, movie tickets, a gift card to The Olive Garden®, and several hundred dollars for groceries.
“The parents had tears in the corners of their eyes when we showed up,” she recalls, “and the children were in shock and awe as four of us brought in load after load of gifts.” The family expressed their joy aloud in their native Spanish tongue. Although not a Spanish speaker, Stephanie could feel the universal warmth as the family room filled from wall to wall with gifts.
“I will never forget what Dave [Nielson] said to me when we dropped the gifts off,” she reflects with sincerity, “‘It feels good to give, doesn’t it?’”
You can reach the Utah Chapter for Sub For Santa at (801)356-6300 or on the web at www.unitedwayuc.org/subforsanta.
The trademark Olive Garden® is owned by Darden Concepts, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, Inc., and used under license by its affiliated companies.

Would You Be Confused

Low Book Sales® WINS ANOTHER TRADEMARK INFRINGEMENT CASE
10/23/2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Automotive :: Legal
Salt Lake City, Utah, February, 2007 – Low Book Sales®, the largest independent car dealer in Utah, sets a precedent for defending its Federally Registered Trademark by winning a preliminary injunction against competitor Below Book Motors.
Federal Trademark Law states that: “The owner of a trademark is entitled to the exclusive right to use the mark. This entitlement includes the ability to prevent the use, by unauthorized third parties, of a confusingly similar mark.” Hence, if a business has a registered trademark and a competitor uses a name that is “confusingly similar,” then a case is made for trademark infringement. This was an instance where the public was confused about a possible affiliation between Low Book Sales and Below Book Motors. Geographically, the two lots are less than a quarter of a mile from each other on State Street in Salt Lake.

Low Book Sales was represented by John R. Crossan, who was able to establish that Below Book Motors is a confusingly similar name, and that Low Book Sales is well known in the Utah market. The court ruling determined that Below Book Motors change its name, and remove all infringing signage, logos, brochures, letterhead, etc.
Every year, many corporations in this country spend millions of dollars in defense of their registered trademarks and other intellectual properties. It is a constant process of audits, injunctions, and expensive legal battles. There is an old saying about the value of your good name. In the business world, the value of a name cannot be overstated.

Low Book Sales: A Household Name

Low Book Sales® IS THE MOST BRANDED CAR DEALER IN UTAH ACCORDING TO BRAND THE BRAIN
10/23/2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Automotive :: Consumer Reports
Salt Lake City, Utah, November, 2007 – Low Book Sales®, the largest independent car dealer in Utah, is also the most branded independent car dealer in the state according to Brand the Brain℠, an independent perceptual study conducted in 2006. Due to aggressive television, radio, print, and bulk mail campaigns, Low Book Sales has established itself as a household name in Utah.
Some Utah residents say that you cannot surf through the radio channels without hearing at least one of Low Book Sales’ popular jingles. “We have a message to deliver to the community,” offers David Nielson, President & CEO of Low Book Sales. “Why not put a message out that is fun, full of energy, and familiar?”
According to the Brand the Brain study, out of thousands of those surveyed, 11% said that Low Book Sales was the first name that came to mind when they thought of car dealers. It was this result that gave Low Book Sales the number one ranking. This type of penetration shows how vastly popular name branding can be for corporations. Some other examples of highly effective branding could be the Apple® Ipod® becoming the generic term for an MP3 player, or a Sharpie® being requested as the generic term for a marker.
While Low Book Sales is not the generic term for a car dealer, they are not to be overlooked in the Utah market. The annual budget for Nielson’s marketing machine is well over $1,000,000.00 for the radio spots alone. There has also been a fair amount of television advertising to compliment the radio campaigns.
Apple® and iPod® are registered trademarks of Apple Inc.
SHARPIE® and SANFORD® are registered trademarks of SANFORD or its affiliates.

Low Book Sales:Commited to Customer Goodwill

Low Book Sales® Commits over $100,000.00 Monthly to CUSTOMER GoodWill
10/23/2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Automotive :: Consumer Reports
Salt Lake City, Utah, October, 2007 – The Low Book Sales® Service Group, a division of Low Book Sales, the largest independent car dealer in Utah, is pulling out the stops when it comes to helping customers with vehicle issues. Every vehicle sold at Low Book Sales receives a complimentary 45-day, 3,000 mile warranty.
When you buy a pre-owned vehicle, there is no coverage offered save what may be left on a second owner manufacturer’s warranty. Some manufacturers offer extremely aggressive second owner warranties, while others simply do not. By providing a warranty to every buying customer, Low Book Sales shows its commitment to lead the market in quality. “We have replaced engines, transmissions, and other expensive components,” beams Justin Evans, Director of the Low Book Sales Service Group.
At a cost of over $100,000.00 per month in customer goodwill, Low Book Sales certainly sets the bar for what can be expected in the pre-owned automotive market. The question remains to be answered; however, as to whether the automotive powerhouse can continue to offer such a costly benefit with such low prices. Though in order to stay competitive with Certified Used Car Programs offered by manufacturers such as Honda, this is a necessary expense.
Many large corporations have cut back on such programs as they have a tendency to bleed the bottom line. Industry analysts are skeptical about this approach, and how effective it really is for long-term business. As for the Low Book Sales customer, they can drive away knowing that their vehicle is covered for major failures, safety items, and any drivability breakdown.

Low Book Sales Cares About The Community

The Low Book Sales® Foundation is Driving Home Help to Families
Local Car Dealer donates $40,000.00 to primary children’s medical center
10/23/2007
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Automotive :: Consumer Reports
Salt Lake City, Utah, August, 2007 – The Low Book Sales® Foundation, a charitable, non-profit organization founded by Low Book Sales, the largest independent car dealer in Utah, has unveiled its Q4 plans to disperse funds. The winter season is always filled with those needing a helping hand, and the Low Book Sales Foundation is planning ahead. On August 1, 2007, the Foundation donated $40,000.00 to the Primary Children’s Medical Center. “I want to give twice as much to charity as we ever have in the past,” says David Nielson, President & CEO of Low Book Sales, “this contribution is only the beginning.”
The Low Book Sales Foundation was started when Mr. Nielson decided to put aside $50.00 from every car purchase to be used for charitable purposes. “It has always been my philosophy to give back to the community,” emotes Mr. Nielson. “I recently read the book Winners Never Cheat by Jon Huntsman, and have required my entire executive staff to read it as well. There is a lot of wisdom in what Huntsman has done.”
Indeed the Low Book Sales Foundation has made large donations to Primary Children’s Medical Center, victims of Hurricane Katrina, victims of drunk driving, and many more. The plans for Q4 2007 are to continue moving forward. “We put the money from every car into a separate fund,” says Chas Felt, CFO of Low Book Sales, “and every four to six months, we use that money to help the community.”
